The DMK-backed Tamil Eelam Supporters' Organisation (TESO) Saturday urged the central government to support a resolution to be moved by the US in the UN Human Rights Council against Sri Lanka next month.
At its meeting here Saturday, the TESO also urged the centre to ask for an international probe on the alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka in 2009.
The TESO meeting, chaired by DMK president M. Karunanidhi, referred to similar demands made by Britain and the Amnesty International.
The TESO also urged the union government to take steps to devolve full powers to the Northern Provincial Council in Sri Lanka and also protect Indian fishermen from attacks by the Sri Lankan Navy.
