A four-member delegation of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) led by its president Prabhat C. Chaturvedi will attend the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Congress to be held at Tokyo during the World Championships between April 28 and May 5.
The other members of the delegation include TTFI secretary general Dhanraj Choudhary, vice-presidents Chiranjib Choudhary and Arun Kumar Banerjee. The delegates left for Tokyo in the early hours of Sunday.
There will be several meetings during the Congress which will discuss the progress on various events, including the Glasgow Commonwealth Games (July-August) and the Incheon Asian Games (September-October), besides other continental championships.
Chaturvedi, who is also the Commonwealth Table Tennis Federation president as well as Asian Table Tennis Union council member, will indulge in organisational nitty-gritties of the Glasgow Games and also the Commonwealth Table Tennis Championships which New Delhi will host next year.
Dhanraj, who is on the ITTF's Board of Directors, will discuss, formulate and decide on the rules and guidelines governing the sport.
The technical committees from different continents will also meet to discuss and suggest ways and means to improve the standards of various aspects of the sport with the ITTF top bosses.
