The Mata Amritanandamayi Math has donated $1 million for the rehabilitation of the victims of a typhoon that hit the Philippines five months ago.
A cheque was handed over by Embracing the World (ETW), a worldwide network of charities inspired by spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, to the Office of the Philippines president in Manila April 2.
ETW decided to offer the help after seeing the effects of the Yolanda-Haiyan typhoon that ravaged the Philippines coast Nov 8, 2013, killing at least 6,300 people, a press release here said.
