Both Soumyajit Ghosh and Harmeet Desai bowed out in the pre-quarterfinals of the men's singles. However, they put up a better show in doubles by reaching the semi-finals where they lost to Koriyoma Hokuto and Kenta Tozoe of Japan 11-7, 6-11, 12-14, 8-11. The Indian pair had beaten Jiang Tianyi and Ng pak Nam of Hong Kong in the quarter-finals.
In singles, Soumyajit went down fighting to Koriyama Hokuto of Japan. Koriyama won 11-7, 11-2, 9-11, 11-9, 9-11, 14-12 to enter the quarters. Wn Chih Chi of Chinese Taipei beat Harmeet Desai 11-6, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4, 12-10.
