With 300 million active users, photo sharing site Instagram has moved ahead of Twitter in terms of users.
Nine months after it reached the 200 million user mark, Instagram now says it has 300 million people using the service every month, TechCrunch reported.
The app now beats Twitter's 284 million active users, as per the figures on the microblogging website.
Twitter added about 38 million users since March while Instagram boosted its count by 100 million.
"Over the past four years, what began as two friends with a dream has grown into a global community," Kevin Systrom, Instagram CEO, was quoted as saying in media reports.
Instagram users share 70 million photos every day and it has a base of 30 billion photos.
The website now has plans to launch verified badges for celebrities, brands and athletes, like Twitter, to increase its credibility.
