Terming as "ridiculous" Saudi Arabia's allegation that Tehran has been providing weapons to Shia Houthi rebels in Yemen, a senior Iranian military officer said on Saturday that it is Riyadh which is using US weapons to oppress Yemen.
"This claim is ridiculous because everyone knows that it is Saudi Arabia which has procured different weapons through the US and is using them against the oppressed Yemeni nation today," Press TV quoted Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Hassan Firouzabadi as saying.
He added that Iran's support for the Yemeni people was because they have stood up for their civil rights, national sovereignty and independence.
On March 26, Saudi Arabia and its Gulf allies launched airstrikes on the Shia Houthi group that has seized parts of Yemen, including capital Sanaa.
