Iran's chief negotiator has failed to convince Iranian lawmakers regarding the talks between Tehran and the P5+1 group of world powers over Tehran's nuclear programme, media reported on Wednesday.
Chief negotiator and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday attended a session of the parliament (Majlis)'s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee to respond to questions raised by 15 legislators about the nuclear talks.
Zarif, however, failed to convince some legislators who raised questions about the nuclear negotiations, particularly the foreign ministry's refusal to release a fact sheet regarding a mutual understanding reached between Tehran and the six global powers in Switzerland in April, and also the Iranian nuclear negotiators' alleged kowtowing to the six countries' demands, Press TV reported.
The foreign minister would, therefore, attend an open session of parliament to answer questions about the nuclear issue.
Iran and the P5+1 countries -- the US, Britain, France, China, Russia plus Germany -- reached a mutual understanding in the Swiss city of Lausanne on April 2.
Iran and the six countries are seeking to finalise a comprehensive deal on Tehran's nuclear programme based on the Lausanne statement by the end of June.
The Iranian lawmakers could impeach Zarif.
