The six parties of the erstwhile Janata Parivar will meet here on Sunday when they are likely to turn their long proposed merger into a reality, sources said.

"The issue of merger is being discussed among all those concerned for some time now. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and many others from other parties would reach Delhi on Sunday to meet Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh," Danish Ali of Janata Dal (Secular) told IANS.

He, however, said it would entirely depend on the top leadership of the political parties involved whether to announce something on the issue on Sunday or not.

"They may or may not decide on the issue on Sunday itself," he said.

K.C. Tyagi of Janata Dal (United) also echoed the same sentiments about the proposed meeting of the six parties.

"I can't say whether the decision about the merger would be made on Sunday or any other day, but talks are on and certain people would be meeting each other," he told IANS.

The meeting is expected to be attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, JD-U chief Sharad Yadav, RJD President Lalu Prasad and representatives from Indian National Lok Dal and Samajwadi Janata Party.

Mulayam Singh, who has planned the proposed merger, will be the chairman of the new umbrella entity.
