Rajya Sabha member Parimal Nathwani on Tuesday said the Lok Sabha members deserved to get Rs.5-7 lakh as monthly salary.
Talking to reporters here, the Independent Rajya Sabha member from Jharkhand said: "Considering the number of people represented by each MP, the Lok Sabha members should get Rs.5 lakh to Rs.7 lakh salary per month."
Nathwani said a Lok Sabha constituency covers seven to eight assembly seats and the Lok Sabha members have to work accordingly. He, however, said: "Rajya Sabha members' salary should remain same."
Replying to a question over more than 50 pending Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Jharkhand, he said: "The MOU, not executed in three years, should be cancelled... Jharkhand has potential for industrialisation and effective marketing, and a policy of implementing the investment should be improved."
