Filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj's father Gajaraj, who has starred in brief roles in Tamil films like "Mundasupatti" and "Rajini Murugan", reportedly plays an important role in superstar Rajinikanth's 159th film "Kabali".
"Gajaraj sir will be essaying an important role. He will join the team for shoot from the first schedule in September," a source from the film's unit told IANS.
Gajaraj has also starred in his son's second directorial "Jigarthanda" and also in his upcoming Tamil multi-starrer drama "Iraivi".
To be directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film features Rajinikanth as a Chennai-based don called Kabaleeshwaran.
Set to go on floors on September 17, the film will be shot here and Malaysia.
The film also features Radhika Apte, Prakash Raj, Dhansikaa and Kalaiarasan in significant roles.
