A local court here Friday sentenced an acid attack convict to 10 years in jail, holding him guilty of attempted murder of the victim.
Srinagar's District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Shafi Khanhad Thursday convicted Riyaz Ahmad Nath of carrying out the acid attack on a girl here last year.
While announcing the sentence, the judge said keeping in view the young age and literacy level of the convict, it sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment a fine of Rs.10,000.
The judge said the acid attack had disfigured the victim's face and this is an offence punishable under section 307 of the Ranbir Penal Code.
