Kenya's Wilson Kipsang won the Tokyo Marathon on Sunday, missing out on the world record but securing the fastest time so far on a Japanese course.
The 34-year-old former world record holder completed the race in two hours, three minutes and 58 seconds, adding the title to previous victories in London, New York, Berlin and Frankfurt, reports Efe news agency.
However, Kipsang missed out on his goal of beating the current world record set by compatriot Dennis Kimetto of two hours, two minutes and 57 seconds.
Kipsang took to Twitter after the race, sharing a photograph of himself holding his new trophy.
"Very happy with my win... Thank you everybody for supporting me," he wrote.
Fellow Kenyan Sarah Chepchirchir won the women's race in a personal best of two hours, 19 minutes and 47 seconds.
Some 35,500 runners participated in the 11th edition of the Tokyo Marathon, one of the six World Marathon Majors.
