In a bid to promote tourism, Kerala Tourism has held road shows in Oman and Bahrain, an official release said on Sunday.
While the show in Oman was held at Grand Hyatt in Muscat on November 23, it took place at the Intercontinental Regency in Bahrain's capital Manama on November 25.
"The Middle East is of special significance to us. We have ties with the Gulf region dating back to centuries," it quoted Tourism Minister A.P. Anilkumar as saying.
A large number of people from Kerala work in these countries.
Kerala Tourism director P.I. Sheik Pareeth, who led the delegation, said the two road shows evoked tremendous response.
Representatives from over 30 tour companies participated in the Oman road show and 40 in the Manama event.
Last year, 17,239 tourists from Oman and 3,674 from Bahrain visited Kerala.
