The Kolkata Metro railways on Tuesday launched a mobile app to help commuters access travel details at their fingertips.
In addition, it will provide free 4G Wi-Fi connectivity at Maidan and Park Street stations initially.
"From today (Tuesday), we are starting Metro Railway app through which users can access train timings, nearest stations, nearest locality and tourist place around the nearest stations, Metro Railway Smart Card details, route map, fare structure and other travel information on their mobile phones," the Metro railways said in a statement.
To tackle the rush of passengers during the Durga puja, Metro Railway will run 738 trains this year, which is the highest ever train service for the pujas and is 16 percent higher than last year.
