British player Johanna Konta defeated Samantha Stosur in her first match of the WTA Elite Trophy tennis tournament here on Wednesday.
World No.10 Konta, who is seeded first in the women's tournament, defeated the Australian 6-4, 6-2, reports Efe.
Currently, Konta leads the 11 best players who could not qualify for the WTA Finals in Singapore played last week and won by Slovak player Dominika Cibulkova.
In another match, Swiss Timea Bacsinszky defeated Hungarian Timea Babos 6-4, 6-2.
