"Twilight" star Kristen Stewart has decided to take a break from acting.

Stewart is thrilled she has chosen to step behind the camera for the next few months to work on a short film about the power of women, reports people.com.

"I just did like five movies over a two-year period, and I think it's a very good decision for me right now to stop acting in movies for just a moment. I've never really done that. I've never changed my appearance," Stewart said at the ongoing 69th Cannes Film Festival here.

"I've always really stayed neutral since I was like 10 years old, so I was like, 'I'm going to direct a short (film), and I'm going to f**k up my hair'," she added.
