India's largest engineering and construction conglomerate, Larsen and Toubro (L&T) Friday said it has bagged a turnkey order worth Rs.5,100 crore for setting up a 2x660 MW supercritical thermal power project in Madhya Pradesh.

The Shree Singaji Thermal Power Project (TPP) order in the Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh is on a complete engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis from the Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Co. Ltd. (MPPGCL) for two coal-fired thermal units of 660MW each with supercritical parameters, L&T said in a stock exchange filing.

The order was won through tough competitive bidding involving several national and international bidders and demands stringent completion schedule of 43 to 47 months, unit wise, the company said.

"Significantly, this is a repeat order on L&T from the same state utility, which had earlier placed an EPC order for the balance of plant package for 2 Units of 600 MW each of Shree Singaji TPP (Stage-I)", it added.

Earlier in the week, L&T announced that its construction division had recently commissioned the world's largest solar photovoltaic plant of 7.52 MWp on a single roof at Amritsar, Punjab.

L&T stock was trading at 2.52 p.m. Friday at Rs.1,607.55 a share, 18.55 points, or 1.17 percent, higher than its previous close on the Bombay stock Exchange (BSE).
