The Lok Sabha was disrupted during question hour Thursday over demands for a statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti's abusive remarks during a rally here.

Members of the opposition trooped near the speaker's podium and also raised slogans like "Achche din kahan kahan gaye, PM Modi jawaab do." (Where have the promises of good days gone, PM Modi give an answer).

The house was disrupted for over an hour.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that the prime minister should make a statement as he is the leader of the house.

However, Modi made a statement in the Rajya Sabha, saying that the minister had apologised and the house should now function.
