Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan on Friday instructed the security agencies to maintain "fool proof" security in the parliament complex in wake of intelligence inputs of threats of an attack.
The direction came in a meeting chaired by Mahajan to review the security of parliament complex, officials said.
Parliament's security services, Delhi Police and other security agencies attended the meeting and the Lok Sabha speaker instructed the agencies to maintain fool proof security arrangements in parliament complex, said officials.
"The meeting lasted for around an hour, and the Lok Sabha speaker reviewed various security systems in place in the parliament complex," an official said.
This comes in the wake of the Pathankot air base attack in which India lost seven security personnel.
As per recent intelligence reports, the parliament building is on the hit list of terrorists, as are prominent political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In one of the biggest terror attacks in India, on December 13, 2001, Indian parliament was attacked, during which six Delhi Police personnel, two Parliament security service personnel and a gardener were killed as were all five terrorists.
Intelligence reports also say that crowded areas maybe a target for terrorists who have infiltrated from the other side of the border.
