Pakistani security forces foiled a major terror bid in Balochistan's Sibi city by defusing a roadside bomb Sunday, the day Eid Milad-un-Nabi was being celebrated across the country, media reported.
Frontier Corps (FC) personnel Sunday evening defused an improvised explosive device (IED) planted in a motorcycle parked by the road where a procession in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi was scheduled to pass, Dawn online reported.
Sources in FC told the newspaper that militants had planted four kg of explosives in the motorcycle to target the procession.
"A major terror bid was foiled prior to the arrival of procession," they said.
Security in Sibi was tightened following the recovery of the explosives.
In a separate incident, security forces arrested two militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from their possession in Ziarat district in Balochistan.
