A man has been arrested for raping an eight-year-old girl here, the Delhi Police said on Sunday.
The 32-year-old man lived in the same building as the victim's family and was their landlord's son-in-law, a police officer said.
He attacked the girl, a third grader, on Friday evening when she went out to play near her house.
Initially hesitant to tell her parents, she told them about the incident on Saturday after which the girl's parents filed a complaint with the police and the accused was arrested.
"The girl's medical examination has confirmed rape," the officer said.
The police said that the accused man worked as a cleaner at a hospital.
