A 38-year-old man was arrested from Noida for duping a businessman on the pretext of selling him government land and another property in Delhi for Rs.20 crore using forged documents, police said Tuesday.

Pawan Solanki was arrested July 12 from his house in Uttar Pradesh's Noida for duping Ajay Chaudhary on the pretext of selling him two prime properties in south Delhi's Jorbagh and Mayfair Garden on the basis of forged agreement papers.

Chaudhary, a businessman based in south Delhi's Vasant Kunj, had reported the incident in December 2012 claiming that Solanki along with other co-accused had duped him of Rs. 20 crore in property deals.

"The victim was shown the documents having signatures and stamps of Delhi Development Authority officials and he paid the money believing these documents to be genuine," said Harendra Singh, additional deputy commissioner of police.

"The investigation revealed that the property in Jor Bagh area was a government land owned by the civil aviation ministry. In the case of the second property at Mayfair Garden, the DDA had cancelled the allotment to the orginal owner and allotted to another person," said the officer.

The accused are currently in judicial custody, said Harendra Singh.
