The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday attacked the Akhilesh Yadav government for recovery of many incriminating, illegal and anti-national items from inside prison premises across the state.
While referring to the recovery of maps of Rashtrapati Bhawan, BSF posts and other high security places, and pen drive from an inmate in Moradabad jail, party spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said the entire episode reflected the lawlessness in the state.
He sought response from Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on how such things found their way into jails.
From the recovery of many cell phones, SIM cards, drugs and micro-chips from inside prisons during Sunday's state-wide raids on jails, it was it clear that the jail authorities were hand in gloves with criminals, the BJP leader said.
The BJP has sought stern action against all officials responsible for the lapses and urged the chief minister not only to talk of accountability but show some as well.
