Markets can withstand shocks like Monday's downward spiral on bourses and handle the volatility, National Stock Exchange MD and CEO Chitra Ramakrishna said on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of CII national services sector excellence summit, she termed Monday's developments as a repercussion to global developments in an interconnected world.
Noting developments on a global scale are destined to have an impact on all markets, she however reposed faith in the Indian market to absorb the shocks and handle the volatility with capability.
On Monday, Indian bourses Sensex and Nifty crashed by 1,624.51 and 490 points respectively, it resulted in the Indian rupee loosing 82 paise against the dollar and standing at 66.65.
The NSE CEO said that India witnessed similar situations in the past and withstood those scary moments.
