Singer Melanie Brown, popularly known as Mel B, has been ordered to pay her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte a huge spousal support during their divorce proceedings.
The former Spice Girls star was asked by a judge to give Belafonte $40,000 per month and help him with a one-time payment of $140,000 for his legal fees, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Mel B is divorcing Belafonte after a decade-long marriage. She revealed in April that her husband physically and emotionally abused her during their marriage.
According to Mel B's claims, Belafonte hit her, attacked her self confidence, cheated on her with their nanny, forced her to have threesomes, secretly recorded the intercourse, used the sex tapes against her, and isolated her from her family.
Mel B almost gave up in 2014 when she attempted suicide by taking an entire bottle of Aspirin, but couldn't go through with it. When she tried to call for help, Belafonte reportedly locked her in bedroom.
She has since been granted restraining order against him. He was also ordered to stay away from her children. She shares a daughter with Belafonte and has two other children from previous relationships.
