Mexican dailies have highlighted the victories of Latin American teams in the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
On its front page, La Jornada said: "Beating: Colombia 3, Greece 0. Surprise: Costa Rica 3, Uruguay 1. Passion: Italy 2, England 1." The newspaper said Sunday that Costa Rica's Group D victory over Uruguay was a great surprise, reports Xinhua.
El Universal's headline said: "Without the Tiger (Falcao), Colombia shines" adding that the South American team smashed one of the strongest defences in Europe.
El Universal referred to Colombia as a steamroller, stressing on the lesson Colombia gave to Greece despite the absence of its star Falcao.
Sports daily La Aficion's headline read: "(Costa Rica) Dares to dream" referring to its victory over Uruguay.
The daily added that three minutes of inspiration where enough for Costa Rica to be a surprise and lead the standings in Group D.
