Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised special status to Bihar but he betrayed the state after getting overwhelming support from its people in the Lok Sabha elections, former chief minister Nitish Kumar said here Wednesday.
"Modi had promised special status to Bihar after being elected to power. But he has not only forgotten his words, his government is discriminating in providing funds meant for development and implementation of welfare schemes," Nitish Kumar said at a meeting of party workers.
Bihar has become a victim of apathy of the central government, the Janata Dal-United leader said.
"Bihar's future lies with the special category status. This is our right and we will continue to fight for it," he said.
