Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday took to Twitter to say he was looking forward to his upcoming visit to China and Mongolia, with some of his tweets in the Chinese and Mongolian language scripts.
Modi will embark on a three-nation official visit to China, Mongolia and South Korea May 14-19. He will be in China May 14-16 and in Mongolia on May 17.
The prime minister, who is active on social media, also joined Chinese microblogging website Sina Weibo two days ago.
"In China I will visit Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai. I eagerly await productive discussions with President Xi Jinping & Premier Li Keqiang," Modi tweeted.
"Honoured that Mr. Xi Jinping invited me to Xi'an in his home province & a land associated with Xuan Zang, who visited India," he said.
"I am confident my visit will lay the foundation for further enhancing economic co-operation with China in a wide range of sectors. I also look forward to meeting the captains of industry in Shanghai & sharing with them the wonderful opportunities India has to offer."
Modi said he was certain that his visit to China "will strengthen stability, progress and prosperity in Asia".
On his trip to Mongolia, he tweeted: "Glad to visit Mongolia on 17th May to commemorate 60th year of our diplomatic relations and the silver jubilee of Mongolia's democracy."
"Democracy and Buddhism bind India with Mongolia - our spiritual friend. Looking forward to more trade and investment ties with Mongolia.
"Honoured to get the opportunity to address the Great Khural (parliament) on 17th May. I reassure India's continued support in all areas to Mongolia," he said.
Modi will be the first Indian prime minister to visit Mongolia.
He will then travel to South Korea May 18-19.
