A District Education Officer (DEO) here in Madhya Pradesh was on Monday nabbed by the Lokayukta police while allegedly taking a bribe of Rs.20,000 from a school principal. The official, Kishore Shinde, was later released on bail.
DEO Shinde had demanded Rs.50,000 from Vaishnav Bal Public School principal Mohan Das to give a clean chit in his report on a case of child beating against Das, said Lokayukta police superintendent Arun Mishra.
A complaint was earlier filed against the principal by the parents of a ward alleging that the child was beaten.
The complaint had been handed over to Shinde for investigation.
Shinde had taken Rs.30,000 earlier from the principal, Mishra said.
