Spanish woman tennis star Garbiñe Muguruza has said that she would have to feel bad to withdraw from the Australian Open. On Monday, she won her first game at the Australia Open over Marina Erakovic 7-5, 6-4, but left the court to receive medical treatment after winning the first set as she was suffering from pain in her right knee.

"I took a medical timeout and became a little bit unfocused on the court, and it took me a couple of games to get into the match again," said Muguruza, who opened her season with a run to the Brisbane International semi-finals before retiring with a right thigh injury, according to Efe.

Muguruza said that when she started to play she did not notice any severe pain, but she was afraid after what had happened to her in Brisbane.

The seventh seed emphasised that she is not thinking of withdrawing from the Australia Open, where she meets American Samantha Crawford in the next round.
