Singer Josh Menon says sharing his songs with people is like sharing an intimate moment from his life.

"I want to challenge myself by making sure my music is always evolving. I like to step outside of my comfort zone by experimenting with new sounds and expressing new emotions," Menon told IANS.

"I think I've grown a lot as an artiste by doing this. My first EP was called 'All Greek to me' and it had mainly guitar-centric sounds, because I wrote and composed all my music using a guitar at that time. Then, with my album 'Burn the Midnight Oil', I experimented with new sounds and influences. I feel like that album had something in it for everyone to listen to, because I played with so many different sounds.

"Even with the new album that I'm about to release in a few months, there is a different feel to it. There are a few reasons for this. Obviously since my music is inspired by my life, as my life changes, so will my music. I like to challenge myself with my work, because I wouldn't want to make the same stuff forever and become stale."

His latest song titled "I wrote this song about you" went live on March 29.

Menon says inspiration for all of his songs is his "personal experience".

"So sharing my songs with people is like sharing an intimate moment from my life. That's one of the biggest reasons I love to make music; it gives me the freedom to be vulnerable."

Based in Chicago, the 19-year-old is studying filmmaking to become a director.

"I'm grateful to live in a time when everyone has the opportunity to express themselves through creative mediums. When we break them down to their roots, both film and music are essentially about storytelling. So each time I make a film, a music video, or a song, I'm growing as a storyteller and I'm learning how to face obstacles in conveying the stories that I want to share."
