Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday congratulated newly-elected Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
Prime Minister Modi also extended an invitation to Prachanda to visit India.
"Prime Minister called on Prachanda immediately after his election as the Nepal Prime Minister and congratulated him, besides extending an invitation to visit India," said Prachanda's secretary Jhak Bahadur Mahara.
Prachanda told Modi that he will work in close cooperation with India.
"Spoke to Nepal's PM-elect Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'ji & congratulated him. Assured him of our full support & invited him to India," Modi tweeted later.
Prachanda was elected as the 39th Prime Minister of Nepal on Wednesday.
