Indian naval ships INS Sumitra and INS Khukhri, which docked at the Kolkata port Monday evening and were to stay there for three days, Tuesday left the port for some "operational requirement", navy sources said.
Both the ships docked at the Kolkata port Monday evening as part of the navy week celebrations. The ships were scheduled to be at the port till Nov 6.
"The ships sailed out of Kolkata today (Tuesday) in view of operational requirements," naval sources said.
The nature of the operational requirement was not revealed.
INS Sumitra is an offshore patrol vehicle while INS Khukri is a missile corvette.
Reports, meanwhile, suggested it was done in view of a terror threat to the ships, and a high alert has been issued at the port.
Navy sources, however, said they had "no idea" about the terror threat.
