New York Knicks player Cleanthony Early was shot in the right knee while being robbed after leaving a strip club.
The attack came when several unknown men assaulted the basketball player early on Wednesday morning to rob him as he was driving away from the club with his girlfriend, reports Efe.
The Knicks confirmed the attack on Twitter, saying that Early's wound is not life threatening but added that the team will not release any further details until it has more complete information.
Police sources said that the attackers robbed the 24-year-old of several gold chains, cash, cell phone and gold dental caps.
The assault occurred about 4:15 a.m. when the robbers used several vehicles to block the route of the Uber car that had just picked up the player and his girlfriend. At least one of the attackers had his face covered.
