A Nepali worker has been charged with hitting an Indian worker on the head with a bottle of liquor and choking him to death following a drunken brawl, a media report said Thursday.
The Dubai Court of First Instance on Wednesday heard that the 26-year-old Nepali man, identified only as L.T., allegedly murdered the Indian man on September 19 last year, Khaleej Times reported.
Police were notified about a body found in a sandy location in Al Quoz.
"The body was covered with blood. We knew from the workers there that the victim and another man used to drink alcohol together and sleep under the trucks in the sandy yard," a police officer said.
Police arrested L.T. on September 26 and he reportedly told them that he had met the victim 15 days prior to the incident.
On that day, they drank together and had a fight. When L.T. stopped the victim from drinking further as he was very drunk, the Indian man allegedly abused his mother and sister, following which the latter attacked him and fled the scene, the report said.
The next hearing has been set for May 10.
