Fans showed up in vast numbers to welcome Dutch forward Robin van Persie who arrived in Istanbul to sign for Turkish football club Fenerbahce.
Speaking to the club's official television channel upon landing on Sunday night, van Persie said, "I am very happy to be here and join the wonderful fans," reports Xinhua.
Fenerbahce, runners-up of Turkish super league last season, will pay English club Manchester United 6.5 million pounds ($10.09 million) for the transfer.
The Dutch international striker will get over 240,000 pounds ($372,708) as weekly wage at his new team.
The Dutch star underwent a medical check on Thursday afternoon in London.
