A court here on Tuesday sent, to three days police custody, Nigerian national Kenneth Upwegdha, who was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 31-year-old woman here last week.
Upwegdha was picked up by police from a train at Panvel station near Mumbai, on Monday, two days after he alleged kidnapped and raped the victim in Assagao village, in North Goa district, along with an accomplice, according to the police. The other accused is still at large.
The alleged rape has caused outrage against Nigerian nationals in the state with the Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar accusing them of "creating problems" in the state as well as the Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar claiming that Goans were "annoyed" with their behaviour and lifestyle.
