Night temperatures plummet across J&K

Night temperatures in parts of Jammu and Kashmir remained below the freezing point on Friday, even in the Jammu region the temperature hovered around ten degrees above the freezing point.

Weather office has forecast cold, dry weather in the state during the next 24 hours.

"The coldest town in the state was Leh in Ladakh region which recorded season's coldest night so far at minus 9.1 degrees, Kargil town recorded minus 5.6," an official at the MET department told IANS.

The official further said: "Srinagar recorded minus 2.0 and the Jammu city recorded 10.0 degrees as the night's lowest temperature, similarly, the minimum temperature was minus 4.6 degrees in Pahalgam hill station.

"Among other places Gulmarg recorded minus 2.4 while Katra, Bannihal and Bhaderwah in Jammu region recorded 11.3, 9.0 and 4.2 respectively," the official said.
