With the beginning of entry-level school admissions for 'Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Socially Disadvantaged Group (SDG)' categories on Tuesday, the Delhi government has issued guidelines concerning the admission process.
It announced reservation of 25 per cent for entry class admissions in private unaided non-minority schools for children belonging to the said category, invoking Section 12(1)(c) of Right to Education Act.
For these schools, which come under Delhi School Education Act, 1973, the admissions will be online and will be conducted through lottery system.
"This process eliminates any interference of private schools during the admission process," the Directorate of Education (DoE) said.
"Post the lottery, private schools will simply send communication to those children who will then be allotted admission in their schools. Nearly 28,000 students in 1,158 schools stand to benefit from this," it said.
The department also made registration with Aadhar Card mandatory for application to eliminate any scope of duplicacy.
The admission process will continue till January 31. The results of first round of application will be announced by February 28 and the schools are directed to complete the admission process by March 31.
The schools which are recognised by the DoE under RTE, as well as MCD recognised schools, shall have offline process on the same lines. The admissions will be conducted through a common application form, which will be given free of cost by the school.
The last dates for admission and announcement of results for these schools will be same as those of private unaided ones.
The department also issued two helpline numbers -- 8800355192 and 8800355146 -- for attending to inquiries related to admissions.
