Authorities Thursday warned fishermen in Odisha against venturing into the sea as a low pressure area had formed off the coast over the Bay of Bengal and gusty winds would prevail over the next two days.
The low pressure area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha and West Bengal coast, and may also result in heavy rains at some places, an official of the meteorological centre here told IANS.
Strong surface wind speeds reaching 35-45 km per hour (kmph) are likely, along and off the state coast.
Since the sea condition would be moderate to rough, fishermen were advised not to venture into the sea, the official said.
Widespread rains are also likely to hit the state in the next two days. Some places may witness heavy to very heavy rain, the weatherman said.
