A Navy official died on Sunday after he mysteriously sustained a bullet injury onboard a hydrograhic survey ship anchored in this Kerala coastal city that houses the Southern Naval Command, police said.
According to naval authorities, a gunshot was heard at 7.30 a.m. around the INS Jamuna. Minutes later, Raksha Kumar Parmar, a security official with the Indian Navy, was found wounded.
He was rushed to a nearby naval hospital where he died around 9.40 a.m., the police said.
The naval and police authorities have begun a probe to find out if it was an accident or suicide.
