One person was killed and three injured after a bomb went off at a village in Assam on Sunday, officials said.

The explosion took place at Borjhar village in Udalguri district.

IGP (BTAD) L.R. Bishnoi confirming the incident said the deceased was identified as Ram Chandra Barman.

Barman, a scrap dealer, found a round metal-like object in the scraps he had collected on Saturday evening.

Unaware that it was a bomb, he hit the object with a hammer around 6.30 a.m. on Sunday, leading to an explosion that killed him on the spot.

Three others, including a woman, were also injured in the incident.
