ONGC, GAIL in title round of Petroleum tennis tournament

Defending champions ONGC will Wednesday meet hosts GAIL in the men's team event final of the 33rd PSPB Inter unit tennis tournament which got underway here Tuesday.

Both the finalists, boasting of star players, scripted facile victories in the semi-finals. GAIL defeated IOCL 2-0 while ONGC accounted for OIL by the same margin.

The results:

Men's team event (semi-finals): GAIL beat IOCL 2-0 (Saketh Myneni bt Rohan Bopanna 7-6(4), 6-4; Ramkumar Ramanathan bt Vasudev Reddy 6-2, 6-1).

ONGC beat OIL 2-0 (Vishnuvardhan bt Anshuman Dutta 6-1, 6-2; VM Ranjeet bt CS Mohanty 6-1, 6-1).

Quarter-finals: OIL bt NRL 2-0; GAIL bt EIL 2-0; ONGC and IOCL - bye.
