Actor Oscar Isaac is in talks to join ace filmmaker Steven Spielberg's upcoming film "The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara".
If all goes well, Isaac will star opposite Mark Rylance in the film, which Spielberg would start shooting in the first quarter of 2017 after he finishes "Ready Player One", reports variety.com.
Tony Kushner is adapting the script based on David Kertzer's novel of the same name.
The novel tells the story of a young Jewish boy in Bologna, Italy in 1858 who, having been secretly baptised, is forcibly taken from his family to be raised as a Christian. His parents' struggle to free their son becomes part of a larger political battle that pits the Papacy against forces of democracy and Italian unification.
Isaac's role in the film isn't known.
