Aboisso, May 20 (IANS/MAP) A regional customs office has incinerated over four tonnes of contraband products, including cannabis, prohibited and expired pharmaceutical drugs among other imported goods.
"The action of the customs officers is to protect the national economy against the traffickers and also to protect the population against all that could put their health in danger", said Colonel Fadiga Mohamed, the regional director of the customs of South Comoe.
Some non-expired or counterfeit goods were seized because they are not allowed in Ivory Coast or the importer did not have the legal authority to do so, according to the report on Saturday.
Other imported goods seized at Noah's customs office included cosmetics, phytosanitary products, food, alcoholic beverages and fruit juices, Brazilian sugar, cigarettes, etc.
