Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has advised President Mamnoon Hussain to confer Sitara-e-Shujaat (Posthumous) and Tamgha-e-Shujaat (Posthumous) to the victims of the Army Public School attack in Peshawar.
The victims, who will receive two of the highest civilian awards, include teachers, students and staff members of the army-run school who were killed on December 16, 2014, Duniya TV reported.
On December 16, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) launched a brutal attack on the school targeting countless students of the institution.
More than 140 children and school staff lost their lives.
The incident not only shook the students of the institution and their families but also the rest of the country.
Following the Peshawar attack, the country's political leadership approved a comprehensive plan of action against terrorism in a move described by the prime minister as a "defining moment" in the fight against terrorism.
