Pakistan yet to respond to dates for NSA talks

As Pakistani terrorists launched a second attack in India, just days after the audacious terror attack in Punjab, it has been learnt that Pakistan is yet to respond to the August 23 and 24 dates proposed by India for the National Security Advisor (NSA)-level talks between the two countries.

"August 23 and 24 are the dates proposed for the NSA-level talks. Pakistan has not responded so far," official sources said on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, a Pakistani terrorist was caught alive -- the second man after Ajmal Kasab, who was caught alive during the 2008 terror attack on Mumbai.

A young terrorist, identified as Usman alias Qasim Khan, who hails from Gujranwala in Pakistan and was linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the group which carried out the horrific Mumbai attack, was nabbed in Jammu.

Usman along with a compatriot attacked a Border Security Force convoy on the highway near Samruli, about 10 km from Udhampur town, killing two soldiers. The other terrorist was killed in the firing, but Usman was nabbed alive.

The Udhampur incident is the second one after the July 27 terror attack in Gurdaspur district in Punjab in which three armed terrorists attacked Dinanagar town.

The terrorists, who killed seven people, were holed up in a police station for over 11 hours before they were killed.

After the July 10 talks in Ufa, Russia, between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif, both sides agreed to jointly cooperate to eliminate terrorism and that both their NSAs would meet shortly in Delhi to discuss issues connected to terrorism.

The two terror attacks are being seen as typical moves by Pakistan's military intelligence establishment to scuttle talks with Delhi.
