Parliament Wednesday passed a grant of Rs.18,594.27 crore of additional spending in the current fiscal to meet the expenditure demands of bearing petroleum and fertilizer subsidies
Finance Minister P. Chidambaram moved the the second batch of supplementary demands for grants in the Rajya Sabha. It was passed without a debate. The Lok Sabha had passed it Dec 12, 2013.
Out of the approved grant, Rs.10,336 crore will be given to the petroleum and natural gas ministry.
The ministry will release Rs.9,000 crore to the oil marketing companies for sale of subsidised petroleum products and Rs.1,336 crore for direct transfer of cash subsidy of liquefied petroleum gas consumer schemes.
An additional amount of Rs.2,000 crore will be provided towards fertilizer subsidy in the current fiscal.
