Three rallies were taken out in Madhya Pradesh in support of Hardik Patel of Gujarat who has been championing the cause of Patel community for bringing it into the other backward classes (OBC) category.
The rallies were staged in Bhopal, Sihor and Rajgadh districts with participants riding motorbikes and cars. They later participated in a meet to demand the state's Patidar community, a part of Patel community, be brought into the OBC category.
The demonstrators raised slogans against BJP-led Madhya Pradesh government's policies and submitted a memorandum for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
The participants took out their motorbikes and cars from the city's Ramlila Maidan and passing through various areas finally reached Yadgar-e-Shahjahani Park to hold a meeting. The speakers at the meeting supported the agitation being carried out for the Patel community's inclusion in the OBC category.
President of the Bhopal unit of Patidar community told IANS that the memorandums, criticising the police brutality in Ahmedabad and seeking reservation for the community, were sumbitted to the Sub Divisional Magistrate.
