State-run Indian Oil Corp moved in contrary directions on Monday, cutting the petrol price by Rs 3.02 a litre, but raising diesel by Rs 1.47, both at Delhi, with corresponding changes in other states and effective midnight.

After the revision, petrol will cost Rs 56.61 litre in Delhi as against Rs 59.63 per litre at present.

Diesel, on the hand, will cost Rs 46.43 instead of Rs 44.96, said Indian oil Corporation (IOC).

"The current level of international product prices of Petrol and Diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrants a change in prices,  the impact of which is passed on to the consumers with this price revision," said state-owned oil producer Indian Oil Corporation.
